Hello Rushwick and Upperwick Garden club members. Hope you are all well and coping in these strange times. With this social isolation a garden has never been so important to both our health and temperament. I do feel for those who do not have so much as a balcony. I would go mad I think if I did not have a garden.

As you may know we have had to cancel meetings until further notice. The village hall committee has indicated that the hall will be closed possibly until the end of August so for the first time in the history there is chance  the club will not be having the Annual Show. Unless there is a miraculous improvement in the social distancing regulations, sadly the summer visits will also be cancelled.

In the meantime I hear of the closure of garden centres. I do hope as gardeners we can be resourceful enough to still have a good show of flowers and produce veg as always just in case by some miracle we can run the summer show.

We look forward to seeing you all at the first opportunity to restart our club, till then with plenty of time keep gardening, keep well, keep safe.

Best Wishes from Garden Club Committee.

It is with great sadness that we have to report the death of Sally Sharpe, a long time member of the club, wife of our treasurer Tony and a much appreciated hardworking member of the Rushwick community.

Sally had been fighting cancer for the last few months and lost the battle this week at St. Richard’s Hospice. Sally had a very interesting life history, a woman of many talents which she willingly put to good use. She will leave a big hole to fill in many people’s lives. Our thoughts go out to her family at this sad time.
